Heritage
Buildings
It is a privilege for us to work on projects with buildings of historical significance. We have completed high quality restoration and alteration projects on a wide range of conservation and historic buildings, from private residences to cathedrals. REAL Consulting’s specialist knowledge of how these buildings are ‘put together’ and the materials used in their original construction allow us to carefully detail budget costs for proposed projects, often in support of grant funding bids. Over many years working on these projects, we have developed excellent working relationships with specialist architects who operate in this sector. We understand their design intent and are able to look at options with them on certain projects by engaging with specialist suppliers and heritage craftsmen.
Often, the grants secured do not cover the full extent of the anticipated works. When this happens, REAL Consulting is always flexible, we re-prioritise against reduced budgets, while further fundraising is undertaken by the client. In this sector, due to the nature of the work and protracted construction time scales, main contractor on costs often appear disproportionate to the value of works carried out. REAL Consulting works with both client and contractor to understand the drivers and ensure that costs are realistic.
REAL Consulting – appreciates the challenges of our built heritage.
REAL Consulting showed commitment and provided excellent communication and experience. Their overall stoicism was excellent.
