Richard began his career in 2004 and qualified as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor in 2010. He became a project manager in 2011, delivering projects across various sectors. In 2013, he expanded his experience into the oil, gas and renewable energy industries, working as a Contracts Administrator  on major schemes.

Having been with REAL for over a decade, Richard was appointed Partner in 2022. He is passionate about supporting the local construction industry and enjoys collaborating with regional suppliers, contractors, and consultant teams to deliver ambitious programmes with successful project outcomes.

Richard is also an active member of Construction East, where he champions the development of the local industry and helps support the next generation of construction professionals and tradespeople.

Louis is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with extensive experience across the residential, commercial, healthcare, education, leisure and infrastructure sectors. He holds a Masters degree in Construction Cost Management and is a graduate of both the University of Reading and University of East Anglia. Louis spent part of his career working for a sustainable property developer specialising in large, mixed-use schemes throughout the UK. He has an in-depth knowledge of the development process from feasibility through to construction and marketing. Louis develops strong relationships with project teams and is a clear communicator with the ability to maintain focus on Clients’ priorities at all times.

Tom Alves joined REAL Consulting in October 2021, bringing with him five years of contractor-side experience as a construction site manager. This practical background provided Tom with a strong understanding of construction and project delivery, which has proved invaluable in his development as a cost consultant.

In his role as Project Surveyor, Tom has successfully delivered projects across the residential and commercial sectors, acting in Quantity Surveyor (QS) and Employer’s Agent (EA) / Contract Administrator (CA) roles.

Tom takes a collaborative and proactive approach to project delivery, working closely with clients, consultants and contractors to achieve successful outcomes. He prides himself on building strong, trusted relationships with clients and project teams, ensuring clear communication and effective problem-solving throughout the development process.

Drawing upon both his practical construction background and consultancy experience, Tom provides informed commercial advice and cost management services tailored to the needs of each project. His experience spans all stages of the project lifecycle, from initial feasibility and cost planning through procurement and into post-contract CA / EA and cost management services.

Tom is a Chartered Construction Manager and Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB), demonstrating his commitment to professionalism and excellence within the construction industry.

David is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with over forty years of experience within the construction industry, working with both private and public sector clients. Experience has been gained in numerous sectors working on various building types, forms and sizes. Recent projects have been within education, healthcare, defence, office, maintenance, technical training, sports and leisure sectors. Client-side site-based experience has involved post contract projects for administrative buildings, hangers and training, involving collaborating closely with the client, other stakeholders, construction teams and in-house/ independent design team members. Experience has also included master planning and feasibility estimates to identify separate packages of works to be progressed as individual projects.

David has an established record of high-quality service delivery and pro-actively cost manages projects through budgeting, placing and completion; collaborating with the Client and other project team members to obtain value for money in design, procurement, construction, and final accounts. David is aware of issues as they arise and can tailor methods and the approach used to meet the specific project requirements.
